Weapons

"Aside from the standard machine gun you're issued at the beginning of the game and the gauntlet that you carry with you at all times, there are a variety of other weapons scattered around the map. In order to completely own your opponents, you're going to need to grab these weapons and get proficient in their use! Here's a rundown of what's available and what their respective ammo boxes look like."

[font=Verdana]Gauntlet :[/font]
Utility: close combat only (narrow corridors and doorways, turning corners) or last-resort weapon (always available in normals mods), i use too for camper :wink:
[font=Verdana]Machine Gun :[/font]
Other: Limited usefulness in duals because the projectiles are easy to avoid if you are aware of them. The weapon kill entire groups of enemies in FFA if they are too busy fighting each other to avoid it.
Damage: 7 per bullet (5 in team DM). Massive firerate.
Other: Full ammo last only a few seconds (biggest problem). Spray 3 times larger than the machine gun.

* Splash damage is damage taken by people near the point of impact

You normally start with gaunlet (endlessly ammunition) and machine gun (100 munitions).

- Taking shotgun weapon give you too 10 munitions.
- Taking grenade launcher weapon give you too 10 munitions.
- Taking rocket launcher give you too 10 munitions.
- Taking lightning gun give you too 100 munitions.
- Taking rail gun give you too 10 munitions.
- Taking plasma gun give you too 50 munitions.
- Taking BFG give you too 20 munitions.

If you never have had a weapon take munitions do nothing...

Now you know all you must for switching weapons, never have low weapons, wat cost rocket jumps etc (look the splash damage),...

The rest is question of training, config, reflex,... and luck

Hope that can help you, Happy frags !

"Don't just jump into battle, make sure you are fully equiped. Get a few good weapons, some health and armour."

suggestion for ALL WEAPONS AND HANDBAGS

Hi all!! i come to stress someone and i don't know exactly what happened on this server, but i have a feeling that the fraglimit on 25 make the game too long and standard noob-player really don't like this (they come and leave fast)...now the only people over the server are always the same and i also get bored about such high fraglimit. This is only my impression, i like faster match and when much people join in the server, i think make more fun when a lucky-noob win and he feel that he wants to play longer. I'm sorry chicky i was thinking to tell you this on the match before but you excaped out really fast...
i'm not a menager of this but i feel like the people is getting less...maybe i'm wrong...boh...

Greetings to all! :)

new noghost options on latest client

new/improved client variables...

cg_delag (default=1) <--	If you like delag: This is the client side component of delag which will allow you to play like you have 0 ping. Railgun shots will come out instantly (as you will see) and if you have played InstaUnlagged or uFreeze on Quake 1.32 the feeling should be similar. On the other hand, if you totally hate delag and like to lead your shots, set this to 0 and the server and client will both act like delag is completely off. This is nice if your background is in OSP.
cg_delag_cmdTimeNudge (default = 0 ) <Variable> 999
cg_delag_projectileNudge (default = 0 ) <--	Will more accurately draw projectiles, NOT owned by you, such as rockets and plasma, based on player pings and what the server sees. Set this to equal your ping or whatever feels best. Because pings change all the time, changing this all the time typically isn't worth it, so it is off by default.
cg_delag_optimizePrediction (default = 1)	<--	Tells the client-side delag to optimize its prediction paths in order to smooth people's movements out as well as cut down on CPU usage. Technically if your CPU was a bottleneck this could improve FPS.
cg_chatSound (default = 1) <--	Enables or disables the 'beep' you hear when someone broadcasts a chat.
cg_freezetag_iceShell (default = 1) <--	Enables or disables the white ice shell you see on frozen people when FreezeTag is on.
cg_enemyModel (default = "" ) <--	Sets the default player model of the opposing teams when in team games. Can also be controlled from the server side. See server settings below. If you plan on using cg_enemyModel with cg_enemyColors then add "/pm" to the end of your model. For instance, set cg_enemyModel "tankjr/pm"
cg_enemyColors (default = " " ) <--	Sets the default rail and body color scheme for the opposing teams when in team games. Can also be controlled from the server side. See server settings below. The syntax of this variable is: cg_enemyColors [rail] [head] [body] [legs] or cg_enemyColors [rail]:[head]:[body]:[legs]. Each color can be defined using a word, like 'blue' or with Quake's color numbers (1-8 ), as well as RGB colors, such as #FF0000. If you use all numbers to define colors, you can also use cg_enemyColors [rail][head][body][legs].
cg_crosshairColor (default = " " ) <--	Sets the default crosshair color. The color can be defined using a word, like 'blue' or with Quake's color numbers (1-8 ), as well as RGB colors, such as #FF0000. Note: cg_crosshairHealth will override cg_crossHairColor, so if you want to use cg_crosshairColor be sure to turn off cg_crosshairHealth.
cg_crosshairHealth (default = 1 ) <--	Boolean to make your crosshair change colors depending on the amount of health you have. Note: This will override the setting of cg_crosshairColor.
cg_drawAccuracy (default = 0 ) <--	Boolean to show your current weapon accuracy on the screen as a percent
cg_drawSpeed (default = 0 ) <--	Boolean to show your current ground speed on the screen in units per second (UPS)
cg_weaponEffects (default = 0 ) <--	Variable to control what weapon eye-candy is displayed on the screen. Note these are additive, so pick the features you want and add their values together, then set it to cg_weaponEffects.
0 = no weapon modifications
1 = railbeam + spinning railrings
2 = simple railbeam (elite version?) - will override spinning railrings
4 = plasma ball + particles
8 = new lightning skin for lightning gun
16 = new rocket explosion
cg_drawWeaponSwitchBar (default = 1 ) <--	Variable to control how the weapon switching bar appears on the screen. These are additive, so add up the features you want and set cg_drawWeaponSwitchBar to be that value.
0 = no weapon switch bar
1 = normal weapon switch bar
2 = removes the text above each weapon when you switch to it
4 = forces the bar to always show and never go away
8 = makes the weapon icons appear half their normal size
cg_teamColors (default = "") <--	Variable to control the color of skin your team wears. These colors are defined the same way as the cg_enemyColors are defined.
cg_teamModel (default = "") <--	Variable to control the model your team uses. The model is defined the same was as cg_enemyModel
cg_trueLightning (default = 0.0) <--	Decimal integer to better control how the beam appears on your screen as compared to how the server sees your beam. Tuning this value towards 1.0 can be used to make things feel more realistic and less laggy depending on your ping time. This variable is only active when delag is off on the server.
cg_scoreboardShadow (default = 1) <--	Boolean to enable or disable the text shadow on the scoreboard
cg_drawScoreBox (default = 1) <--	Boolean to enable or disable drawing the team/ffa scores on the screen
cg_lensFlares (default = 0) <--	Bitfield to enable lensflare eye-candy effects on the screen. Pick the effect(s) you want, add up their numbers, and set cg_lensFlares to that value.
1 = map lens flares
2 = missile lens flares
4 = sun lens flares
cg_smoothClients (default = 0) <--	Boolean to enable player movement smoothing on the client.
cg_drawFriend (default = 1) <--	Boolean to make the yellow "friend" triangle appear above your teammates heads in tdm/ctf games
cg_enableBreath (default = 0) <--	Boolean to display player "breaths" when in tdm freezetag game to simulate them being in a cold environment.
ch_Obituaries (default = 1) <--	Boolean to enable the obituaries in your console. Turning this off will remove the death notices you see like "Daemia did a backflip into the lava"
cg_hitsounds (default = 0) <--	Boolean to control ProMode style hitsounds. If you are unfamiliar with these sounds, the hitsound you hear is based on the amount of damage you do to them. Sounds range from a "dink" (low damage) to a "donk" (high damage)
cg_centerPrintAlpha ( default = 1.0 ) <Decimal> 125, rate is now limited to 5000 -> 25000, and com_maxfps is now limited to 10-> 999.

*Build 703 (and higher) Server Side co-variables:*

g_authenticateClient (default=0) <--	This variable, when turned on, will force all players to have the NoGhost client mod loaded. This both helps to prevent cheats from running on the client as well ensuring that all clients playing on the server are running the same exact client mod pak (very helpful for clan matches and scrims). Because the server mod can now ensure that all clients are using the same mod, you can now shift your servers to sv_pure 0 and still rest assured that clients will be running the same paks.
Along those lines, if you are using 1.15c or 1.11 to host your server to take advantage of g_antiBot, you can now safely move to 1.16n and turn this option on. However, there is one caveat...if you have players connecting to your server who use the demo version of Quake they cannnot load a client mod. Thus, I would recommend against using g_authenticateClient. Sorry about that. If you want to continue to run 1.11 or 1.15c and keep your server pure, just load the {NoGhost}.pk3 into your server's baseq3 and restart your server. If you run a server that uses full version maps, I would highly recommend you turn this variable on, since your players are already full version players.

g_delag 5 <--	Admins: if you don't want to give players the option of choosing to have delag on or off, you can set g_delag to 5 on your server and it'll be on for everyone.
sets cg_enemyModel <--	Setting this on the server can prevent or allow whether or not players can use the cg_enemyModel functionality of the NoGhost client mod.
sets cg_teamModel 0 = disables players from using cg_enemyModel
unset or 1 = allows players to use cg_enemyModel
sets cg_enemyColors <--	Setting this on the server can prevent or allow whether or not players can use the cg_enemyColors functionality of the NoGhost client mod.
sets cg_teamColors 0 = disables players from using cg_enemyColors
unset or 1 = allows players to use cg_enemyColors

Using mods with OpenArena

I will be adding info here for FAQ's regarding mods with OpenArena.

Lots of people have the same issues and have to discover the fixes out for themselves.

If you are running a mod with OA then a common issue is you might find a client baseoa/baseq3 mismatch.

This doesnt mean the mod isnt compatible, this commonly happens if you are using a serverside mod and an OA client.

For example: OpenArena uses baseoa as its default folder. Q3 uses baseq3.

So if you run a q3 serverside only mod, then any clients connecting will get that error because the client is expecting baseoa but the server mod is using baseq3 as default.

If you want to run a serverside only mod a quick workaround which often works is to open up the file located in the vm/ folder (pk3 is just a zip file, you can open the contents with winrar/winzip etc) then search for baseq3 and change it to baseoa. Since the file name and file size remains the same, it should work fine. Some people find notepad and some text editors add extra characters so notepad++ for windows is a better alternative to edit these files.

If you are running a mod which has both a client and server file then you should have no issues.. the server and client file will have baseq3 as the default game therefore the mod is usually compatible.

Someone asked me how the mod manages to download the maps and stuff if an openarena server doesnt have a baseq3 folder. I can only take a guess at this, but if you were to rcon cvarlist - you would probably see baseoa as being a valid path... therefore the game thinks that baseoa is a mod. I notice that some maps get downloaded to the OperArena folder, while some maps get downloaded to the apps/home folder. I guess thats the reason why the maps and downloadable stuff still works ok.
